I recently reviewed the list of state medical boards that still have no CME requirements for relicensure. According to the FSMB, the list currently includes:
The FSMB admits that the information on their list may be incomplete, since at the bottom of the document you'll find the following:
For informational purposes only: This document is not intended as a comprehensive statement of the law on this topic, nor to be relied upon as authoritative.
Non-cited laws, regulation, and/or policy could impact analysis on a case-by-case or state-by-state basis. All information should be verified independently.
The American Medical Association (AMA) used to have a list like this on their website, but the list has either moved or has been removed. As the AMA updates its own website, perhaps we'll see the list again.
In the meanwhile, be sure to check each of the state medical boards regarding their CME requirements for relicensure. As telemedicine gains popularity and more physicians get licensed in other states, it will be important to keep up with all the different (and evolving) CME requirements.
